  • Contributions

A contribution that deserves attention involves that which led to him winning the Nobel Prize. Niels Bohr introduced the idea that the electrons travel in discrete orbits around the atom's nucleus with the chemical properties within the nucleus being determined by the number of atoms in the outer orbits. Works in this area contributed to quantum theory, also.

  • Nobel Prize

Niels Bohr was awarded the Nobel Prize for his work on the structure of Atoms
  • Legacy

Niels Bohr died on November 11, 1962 in his birth city of Copenhagen. He remained active in pursuing new ideas including an interest in molecular biology right up until his death. He fathered six sons of which two died at an early age while the other four continued on to have distinguished careers in their respective fields.
