Welcome to my first science assignment. Here you will see my space timeline all about Neptune.
-
In 1612, Galileo used one of the first telescopes and discovered a star that was in fact, Neptune.
-
Neptune has 13 moons, but the biggest moon is triton. Triton was found on October 10, 1846.Johann Gottfried Galle was the person who discovered this moon.
-
The person who named Neptune was Friedrich Georg Wilhelm. Georg Wilhelm was born on August 27, 1770.
-
Voyager 2 was launched to Neptune on August 20, 1970 and it arrived in 1989. It made its closest distance because Neptune is made of gasses and ice.
-
Neptune's temperature was discovered in 2007. Since Neptune is the furthest planet from the sun, it is about 200 degrees Celsius or 392 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
A day on Neptune is approximately 16 hours, 6 minutes, and 36 seconds. This was discovered in 2008.
-
Neptune is the smallest gas giant that is made up of gasses and ice.
-
Neptune is made up of 80% hydrogen, 19% helium, methane and other types of gasses.
