She has published many books, been the president of science organizations, and Cartwright was the recipient of the Martin R. Lebowitz Prize for Philosophical Achievement. She is defiantly and accomplished woman.

    Nancy was hired by the University of California at San Diego to be a professor of philosophy. She at different times also served at University of Maryland and Stanford University. With quite the professional record she has influenced the understandings of many philosophers today who studied under her. Through her teachings she has defiantly left her mark on the philosophy field for the better.

    The Dappled World
    In mid/late 1999 Nancy published the book The Dappled World: A Study of the Boundaries of Science. In this book she goes on to explain how she believes "To assume that the laws of physics are supreme is to remain within the confines of this Human world. Physical laws assert what are supposedly eternal regularities, but there is nothing necessary about them" She published a radically different idea then the accepted norms. Adding to the philosophy field.
  • Lebowitz Prize

    Lebowitz Prize
    Nancy and a fellow philosopher Elliot Sober won the Martin R. Lebowitz prize in early may of 2017. This is a top honor in their field for outstanding achievement. They won this because of their topic "Is there such a thing as the scientific method?". In this they questioned if the global and local theories of scientific inference are able to work parsimoniously or if there should be a concern with these theories uniting. This is a highlight of her impact of scientific philosophy.

    IUHPST
    The International Union of History and Philosophy of Science (IUHPST) is one of the members of the international Science Council (ISC). In 2020 till present Nancy Cartwright was elected the president of the IUHPST. This organization represents many research fields to include the philosophies of science itself. Their goal is to establish and reinforce links between historians and philosophers, collect valuable documents, and organize it all to better the science community.
