Sam and his father fought about him going to fight in the battle after the father screaming of how he carried his best friend's body when he was in the war Sam became angry and left Tim looked down stairs to see his father break out in tears.

Tim goes to church trying not to think about his brother but with the minster having his name said in the orays and one of tim frineds talking about him it was really hard not to think of Sam

Betsy came to the tavern and nots her head which meant that Sam had returned from the war

Tim was getting done with work and then saw rebel soilders on horesback heading to the Meeker tavern Tim followed after them

He walked in to find the soilders holding his mother at gunpoint and his father with soilders holding him with a hard grip. The soilder slapped Tim's father arcross the face and then Tim ran to Sams hiding spot were he grabs his brother's gun and runs back to the tavern were Sam catches him and demands for the weapon back Tim then turns around and aims the weapon at his brother.

Tim was aiming the gun right at his brother Sam looked at him,Tim began to cry and then Sam launched himslef at him and got the gun back Tim tells Sam of what has happend and then him and Tim took off to the tavern.

Once Tim and Sam were at the tavern the soilders were gone and when Father saw Sam, Sam took off running and was gone.

Tim's father did not want him too deliever the letters. So Tim would say he was going fishing with Mr Heron when really he was going to deleiver.

One day Mr Heron and Tomwaups showed up at the tavern wondering if Tim would carry a pack of busniess letters him. Tim volunterd right away

One day Mr Heron needed Tim to deleiver a letter to Fairfield which is a five hour walk. Wile walking to Fairfield Tim sees Betsy and lies to her saying he was going fishing.

betsy demands to she the letter thinking it may be puting Sam indanger Tim wouldnt let her thinking he will get thrown into jail because of having the letter open

Betsy lunged at Tim grabbing the letter and running away and reading the letter, after she read it she left it in the road and then Tim find it wile going down the road the letter said 'If this message is received, then we will know that the messenger is reliable."

Through the summer Tim tryed to keep away from Mr Henon after failing to deleiver the letter. The Meekers soon got two letters from Sam Father wondered if he should respond
