The Munich Olympics Begin
This was the day of the Opening cermony of the important Munich Olympics. -
Black September Enter Olympics
The Black September Captors entered the apartment housing the Israeli Athletes and coaches. This took place at 4.30am on the 5th of september, this was the start of the hostage situation. -
Captures Start making Demands
Some time had passed since the hostages being captured. In this time 2 Israelis had been shot and killed. At 6pm on the 5th, after several negotiation attempts from German police, the Hostage takers demanded to be Transfered to the nearest aiport with a ready plane so they could fly to Cairo. -
Hostages are Moved
The terrorists and hostages were transported to 2 military helicopters from the apartment complex in the village. These helicopters where part of the deal in which they where to fly to Cairo and let the hostages free, in return for the relase of 234 prisoners released from Israeli prisons and two from German prisons. This took place at 10pm on the 5th -
Hostages Arrive at the Airport
The helicopters took the hostages and the terrorists to the airport to transport them to Cairo. This airport was a small private airstrip about 30mins north of Munich centre. The German police had set up snipers around the airport and a tactical response team dressed as flight attendents, who where supposed to surprise attack the Black September memebers when they boarded the plane. -
Germans Open Fire
After the German Tactical force pulled out of the plane without instruction, the Black September members entered the plane, seeing its empty and relised that it was a trap. This is when the German snipers opened fire. Erupting the airport in gunfire. -
Gun Battle Ends
At 1.30am On the 6th of September the Aiport fell silent after the battle. After the captures turned on the hostages all 9 Israeli hostages are dead along with 5 of the hostage takers. The remainng 3 where captured by Police. -
