Brief history of MS-13

  • Creation of MS-13

    MS-13 was created in the 1980s in Los Angeles California. A High ranking member was Jose Abrego; who was deported four times.
  • Brenda Paz

    Former member Brenda Paz was found stabbed to death, because she informed the FBI of the gangs criminal activities. Two members were later convicted of her murder.
  • National Gang Task Force

    In 2004, the FBI created the National Gang Task Force, and started to work with law enforcement in El Salvador, Honduras and the Guatemalas.
  • Operation Community Shield

    In 2005, U.S. immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), created operation community shield.
  • Number of Members

    In 2009, the National Gang Threat Assessment said that the gang is estimated to have between 30,000 to 50,000 members. 8,000 to 10,000 in the United States.
  • Operation Community Shield

    In 2011, the operation had made over 20,000 arrests,and more than 13,000 arrests of MS-13 members.
  • Long Island

    According to district representative Peter King in New York, there have been 17 murders in long island between January, 2016 and April, 2016.
  • President Donald Trump

    Trump stated his goal to eradicate and dismantle the gang. He called them animals and stating their victims die slowly because that way it's more painful.
