    Nazis take the Sudetenland
    The Nazi party had gotten votes to take Sudetenland and join it with Germany. Thia event took place because Hitler wanted to take over Czechoslovakia and planned on using Sudetenland to do it. the effects of this were that Hitler didn't quite agree with how it was handled. In the image that i have for the timeline it is a woman crying for the takeover of her home. I wanted to show that it was upsetting to the people that live there.
  • Ribbentrop/Molotov Pact

    Ribbentrop/Molotov Pact
    The pact was signed by the Union of Soviet Socialists Republics and Nazi Germany. The pact was signed after the 19 of August that had said the USSR had 180 marks for the purchase of German goods.It was so important for the two people were to basically stick together, It had divided Poland between the USSR and Germany, but went back to the same border. In the photo it shows Molotov and Ribbontrop sigining the pact.

    1.5 million German troops invaded Poland, the Germans had bombed Polish airfields, and attack Polish naval forces. Hitler had stated that it would create more living space for the German's. France had declared war on Germany because of what they did to Poland. I chose the photo because it shows the troops during the invasion.

    Blitzkrieg means lightning war and the tactic was first used in Poland.The German's had used these to avoid a long war and was going to use it to wipe out quite a few countries. Germany had used this tactic successfully on a few countries besides Great Britain. I chose the photo because it shows them invading Norway one of the countries they had used the tactic on.

    The French had been defeated and backed out of the war which had left Britain and Germany fighting. They wanted to takeover Britain like they did with the other countries and they didnt have the French to back them up. The Germans had an attack on London, the first time was successful, but the second was not. I chose the photo because it shows planes going to London for the battle.

    Nazi Germany had invaded the Soviet Union with the codename Barbarossa.Germany had always wanted to use the Soviet Union as long-term settlement for themselves.The Soviet Union wasn't able to keep up with the Germans. I chose the photo because it shows Germans discussing things during the invasion.

    Japenese fighter planes had attacked the American naval base, the attack had lasted for two hours. America and and Japan had been in disagreement for years because of how Japan treated China. No one would think that Japan would start anyting with America. Germany and Italy were Japans allies and had also declared war on America. I chose this photo because it shows ships being attacked by Japan that had created such a disaster.

    It was the meeting of Nazi officals to figure out the final solution of what was going to happen to the Jewish. On July 31 1941, it was issued to find a plan for the Jewish, the Wannsee Conference was six months later. They had decided to round up all the Jewish and send the east to labor gangs. I chose the photo because i wanted to show where they had held the meeting.

    Battle of Stalingrad
    The battle had made the German army dry of everything in Russia. They didn't need to attack Stalingrad, they were going somewhere else when Hitler had ordered an attack. The Russians weren't going to give up and Germany had failed at taking Stalingrad. The parts that the Germans had taken during the day the Russians had taken back at night. I chose this photo because it has the Nazis invading Stalingrad.

    Operation Torch had taken affect by air power. This was being planned out by the British and Americans so that the German could be cut off of supplies. Also, if it would be successful it would trap the Germans in Italy. Hitler was so enraged by the invasion to his allies that he had ordered for the south of France to belong to him. I chose the photo for this because it is a news article that shows what was going on and the name of the operation.

    The British had bombers had invaded Hamburg, Germany and bombed it at night while America bombed it during day. Britain had decided to bomb them because of all the deaths that they had to go through because of the Nazis. It was devastating, Hitler would refuse to go to the burned-out cities, to him it just said the end of war. I chose the photo because the British had bombed a lot of buildings, it was very disastrous.

    160,000 troops were going to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. General Dwight D. Eisenhower had called it a crusade because they weren't going to give up unless they had victory. The allies had gotten a foot-hold in Normandy. 100,000 had decided to go on and march to defeat Hitler. I chose the photo because it shows soldiers getting off a boat ready to fight.

    Hitler wanted to split the allies up by using a blitzkrieg. More than a quarter million troops had launched one of the deadliest and desperate battles. The Americans were fighting desperately but were able to send out air attacks. The Germans had ran out of fuel, it would be a draw with him and his allies. I chose the photo because it shows that they had to fight in the cold and how hard it would be to fight during the winter.

    The western allies had overran West Germany. Germany had collapsed after a meeting that was held for the Western and Russian armies. What also had affected it was Hitlers death at Berlin and the Russians were taking it over. The surrender of Germany was signed May 7. I chose the photo because we had victory from the war. Germany had surrendered and some Jewish people were saved.

    Soviet forces were the first to see a Nazi camp; Germany tried to hide by destroying the camp. The Soviets went to Auschwitz, one of the major killing centers. The prisoners were made to walk west by the Nazis, the Soviets had entered the camp. they had found personal belongings to the victims in one of the warehouses.After finding out about the camps, many were liberated. I chose this photo to show the Jewish being liberated from the Nazis camps.
