    The Petition of Right was an Act of Parliament that solidified specific liberties of the subject that the King was prohibited from infringing. The petition contained restrictions on non-parliamentary taxation, imprisonment without cause, and restricted use of martial law. This document was signed by King Charles I.

    Mary and William of England signed it. Giving them certain freedoms and ensured a protestent political sumpremacy. Rights such as freedom to petition, no taxation, no standing army, and freedom to the right to hold arms.
