    The explosion in a garage of World Trade Center resulted in 6 deaths and 1040 injuries. An estimated 50,000 people were evacuated.The 1,200 lb bomb was in a truck parked in a garage beneath the World Trade Center causing part of the ceiling to collapse. Ramzi Yousef directed the organization and execution of the bombing. There were 1400 injured and 317 were killed. The bombings were seen as a retaliation for anti-Muslim riots. Explosions were reported at government offices, banks, cinemas, bazaars, two hospitals, a university and several hotels. A bus was also torn apart by a bomb. The two main suspects were not arrested. The Mumbai (Bombay) bombings case is one of India's longest-running trials.

    Terrorist teams from the Aum Shinrikyo religious cult, threw sarin nerve gases into the air inside various subway trains at the Kasumigaseki station. The attack resulted in 12 deaths and injuries of 5500. Japanese police raided Aum Shinrikyo headquarters and arrested hundreds of members, including the cult’s blind leader, Shoko Asahara. Five Aum members were sentenced to die. Asahara, was sentenced to death by hanging in 2004, but continued to appeal the decision. He is still alive today.

The powerful explosion blew off the building’s north wall, and damaged/destroyed more than 300 buildings in the immediate area. The blast was set off by anti-government militant Timothy McVeigh - a former U.S. Army soldier - who was executed for his crimes in 2001, and his co-conspirator Terry Nichols, who received life in prison. In May 1995, the Murrah Building was demolished for safety reasons.

    A bomb that had been hidden in an audio cassette player on Pan Am Flight 103 detonated while the plane was at an altitude of 31,000 feet. All 260 passengers were killed in the explosion as well as 11 residents of Lockerbie who were killed in the shower of airplane parts that fell from the sky. Sixteen days before the attack, a call was made to the U.S. embassy in Helsinki,Finland, warning that a bomb would be placed on a Pan Am flight out of Frankfurt,but authorities accused Islamic terrorists.

The blast ignited a fire that swept through the ferry. Police arrested Ruben Pestano Lavilla Jr., one of the alleged masterminds of the ferry bombing. He was arrested after he applied for a job at the Philippine Embassy in Bahrain and deported to Manila. Lavilla was part of the Rajah Solaiman Movement, a group of Islamic converts that is allied with two al-Qaeda-linked groups.

    Ten bombs exploded on four trains in and around Atocha Station in the city’s centre. The attack left 191 dead and more than 1,800 injured.     A gunman went on a rampage targeting young members of the incumbent Labor Party, who were there for a summer camp. The alleged shooter Anders Behring Breivik acted alone, so the attack wasn’t linked to any international terrorist organizations at all. But the shooter was characterized by officials as a right-wing extremist. A little before the shooting, a massive bomb explosion occurred in Oslo. In all, about 127 people were killed and 151 were injured.
