    A peace treaty at the end of world war 1. Five years after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The armistice between the Allies and Germany was an agreement which ended the conflict in western Europe (WW1).

    A failed uprising attempt of the German National Socialist Party in the Beer Hall in Munich lead by Adolf Hitler. 16 nazi's and 4 policemen were killed. Hitler was arrested later for treason and spent 9 months in prison before he was released

    A severe worldwide economic depression, which occured after a fall in several stocks in the U.S. It was the longest depression of the 20th Century. It became worldwide news in October of the same year, when the stock market completely crashed, which is now known as black tuesday.

    The National Socialist German Workers Party (nazi party)became popular in Germany after the particularly devestating affect of the depression on the German economy. The nazi party promised to create jobs and lower unemployment rates. Adolf Hitler rose to a place of prominence in the early years of the party. Being one of the best speakers of the party, he told the other members of the party to either. The president Paul von Hindenburg had already appointed Hitler as Chancellor on 30 January 1933

    Lasting from 1939 to 1945, the second World War is said to have begun after Polland was invaded by Germany. Germany formed the Axis alliance with Italy, conquering or subduing much of continental Europe, while the opposing alliance (known as the allies) consisted of France, Poland and Great Britain, soon to be joined by the British Commonwealth (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Newfoundland and South Africa.) More than 60 million people were killed in the war.

    A surprise military strike conducted by the Imperial Japanese Navy against the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.The attack was intended to stop U.S pacific fleets from interfering in military actions that Japan were involved with, in Southeast Asia. The attack began at 7:48 am Hawaiian time. Four Navy Battleships were sunk and another four were damaged. 2,403 Americans were killed.

    The Empire of Japan invaded the Allied stronghold of Singapore. Singapore was the major British military base in South-East Asia and nicknamed the "Gibraltar of the East". The fighting in Singapore lasted from 8–15 February. 5,000 allies were killed or wounded & 80,000 captured by the Japanese

    The Fuzzy Wuzzy angels & the Kokoda Track Campaign
    The Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels was the name given by Australian troops to a group of Papua New Guinean people who, during World War II, assisted and escorted injured Australian troops down the Kokoda trail. The battle of Kokoda began when Japanese forces attempted to advance south overland through the mountains of the Owen Stanley Range to seize Port Moresby as part of a strategy of isolating Australia from the United States. 6,500 Japanese soldiers were killed, while only 625 Australians were killed.

    It was "cold" because there was no large-scale fighting directly between the two sides (U.S & Soviet Russia) although there were major regional wars in Korea, Vietnam and Afghanistan that the two sides supported. The Cold War split the temporary wartime alliance against Nazi Germany, leaving the USSR and the US as two superpowers with profound economic and political differences over communism and capitalism, totalitarianism and liberal democracy.

    Cyclone Tracy was the most compact Cyclone ever recorded in Australia and it devestated the city of Darwin, Northern Territory on Christmas Eve. it caused A$4.45 billion (2014 dollars) worth of damage and destroyed more than 70% of Darwins buildings.The cyclone killed 71 people and left more than 41,000 people homeless.

The attack killed 202 people (including 88 Australians, 38 Indonesians, 27 Britons, 7 Americans, 6 Swedish citizens and 3 Danish citizens) Various members of Jemaah Islamiyah, a violent Islamist group, were convicted in relation to the bombings, including three individuals who were sentenced to death.
