On July 17th Father Serra founded mission San Diego de Alcala.

The churh burned down. Fr. Luis Jayme died.

Padre Serra builds a wall of protection.

The church was replaced by a wider adobe church.

Most of the other buildings were arranged in a quadrangle around the courtyard.

In 1803 the new church was damaged by an earthquake.

The mission was running out of water so they built a dam to get water resource.

In 1813 they rebuild the church over again.

The power of the mission was reduced because Mexico won the war of independence against Spain.

The mission was given to Santiago Arguello for government services.

The mission was given to the U.S. goverment as a military base.

The mission is destroyed. Many people believe it is because the military destroyed structures.

In 1860 Abraham Lincoln signed a document to give 22 acres back to the mission.

The military left and reported the mission as the buildings are stable.

Father Anthony Ubach from St. Joseph's chapal made orders to rebuild the mission.

Padre Anthony died in 1907.
