Men's Fashion Trends Over The Decades

    The fashion for this year was three piece suits, tuexdo jackets, bowties and bowler hats and sports jackets were all the rage for gentleman in this time period. The accessory that made it's debut with all thsi attire was the wrist watch.

    The roaring 20s was full of parties! The typical attire for a night out on the town was a top hat and tail coat. Knickerbockers aka shorts came into play for the fellas.

    Even though The Great Depression was happening suits were huge thing for the fellas back then. Styles such as English Drape, suspenders, polo shirts, opulent suits and collared shirts. Plus this was the time that swim trunks began.

    The 40s became the time to trim up men's fashion. Pants/trousers were slimmed, jackets were shorter. Tropical shirts were in along with fedoras thanks to Indiana Jones. Zoot suits were also in style with bright colors, wide coats, and baggy high-waisted trousers.

    The 50s belonged to the teengagers. Rolled up sleeves, cardigan sweaters, leather jacket with the popped collar and white t-shirt thanks to James Dean. And for the adults it was business suits that were gray, brown, and black.

    The 60s were full of plaid and button-downs mixed with bell bottoms, polyester pants, turtlebnecks, and nehru jackets, i.e. Austin Powers

    The 70s were all about disco and bell bottoms. The era was full of bright colors, flared jeans, thre peiece suits. But punk rock also was interwined with patched jeans, studded leather jackets.

    The trends for the guys in the 80's were full of neon colors, leather pants. and bold patterns. The rocker style was in full effect for guys wearing animal print and ripped jeans. Miami vice also played into the fashion giving guys the reason to rock pastels with formal and casual wear with loafers and a sports coat. Khaki's, polo shirts and argyle sweaters were also in.
  • The 90s

    The Grunge style came into play when the 90s rolled around. Flannels, baggy jeans, muted colors like green and brown were poppin, Overall the baggyness was all in rocking oversize shirts, mood rings, leather jackets, one leg of rolled-up of jeans, overalls with the one strap haning over, graphic tees, baseball caps, and sporty sneakers.

    The recap of certain fashions started to come back into play. This decade full of skinny jeans, joggers, converses, large hoodie sweatshirts, flannels, graphic tees, tank tops, blazers and etc.
