    In the 1920s many things were happening in the post-WW1 world. Women had gained voting rights and talking movies had been created. By the late 1920s the Great Depression had begun.

    During the 1930s the Great Depression was at large. There was a large amount of unemployment and little money. Due to this men's fashion came to a halt. Most attention was spent on uniforms. But, for non service men, created a need for "civvies" or civilian clothes for men. At this time Hollywood also began to have an influence.

    During WW2 there were many government restrictions and a shortage of materials. During this decade emerged American designers. While there was an increase in suburban living this created a need for clothes worn outside of the workplace. Which then led to the increase popularity of leisure wear.

    During this decade incomes were rising and technology was advancing. There was improved transportations and communications. This was also the birth of Rock and Roll!
