    in 1872 the Essendon line was extended to broad meadows

    in 1877 a regional line was built from Oakleigh to Paken. there was a gap from Oakleigh to the city.
  • land boom

    the most lines built compared to any of the other decades. first the Frankston line was built, then the hawthorn line was extended
  • lines brought to the north east

    in 1888 train lines were bought to the north east as the inner circle was built.
  • stock market crashed

    in 1891 the stock market crashed which helped the outer circle line
  • shuttle train

    a shuttle train between Camberwell and Deepdene formed as part of the inner circle.
  • camberwell line shut

    the Camberwell to Deepdene line was shut down after the war.

    Gembrook was shut down but then reopened as puffing billy
