  • Wrapping up the 2013 Season

    Wrapping up the 2013 Season
In honors to first deer harvesters, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is rewarding those individuals with certificates to commemorate their first time--more information can be obtained through the link above. According to Kevin Wallenfang, the total deer harest for 2013 was over 342,000. The winter effects have played a major role in the poor antler development and the study committee said the deer harvesting is trending downwards.
  • Trophy Management May Affect Hunting

    Trophy Management May Affect Hunting
Members of the study group stated concern that trophy management may affect the way people hunt; others agreed to leave the concern to each individual county. A motion by Bonde was to ammend to give the option of antler restrictions to each of the County Deer Advisory Councils (CDAC). This discussion is still in motion.
  • Antler Tags

In 2014, free antlerless tags were in any farmland unit. Mark Noll said that it is not good for public land tags to go anywhere in zone and they should be zone or unti specific for the upcoming 2015 hunting season. A motion was passed (made by Larry Bonde and second by Jay Koenig) that the DNR make the 2015 tags lpublic and land specific based on counties.
