    Andy Nortman from the WDNR presents about the ongoing Deer research project started in 2010. UW – Stevens Point has aided the DNR to capture 1000 deer to research predation.

    In March & April the DNR is conducting a statewide assessment of deer using car kills, etc. They are also looking at modifying severity index parameters. The DNR quota setting will not be done using over winter goals but rather will be decided by county advisory teams to either increase, stabilize or decrease deer within each individual county.

     Return DNR authority to implement EAB- Mark Noll
    Noll brought up the notion that the DNR should be able to utilize the EAB (Earn-a-buck) hunting season once more. In areas that require high antlerless harvests just to sustain poulation this is extremely necessary. This was followed by lengthy discussion between members. Gohlke motioned to advance, Yingst seconted the motion. Motion is passed with the only restrictions being location of the EAB hunt and the consent of the County Deer Advisory Counsil (CDAC).
  • Deer Tags

    The discussion brought up the fact that free antlerless tags in 2014 were valid in any farmland unit. And in 2015 free antlerless tags can be unit specific. Motion made by Larry Bonde with second by Jay Koenig requesting the DNR Department make 2015 tags public & specific land specific in counties. Passed with only one in opposition to the idea.
  • 2014 Deer season Wrap Up

    Kevin Wallenfang talked about the events of the 2014 season as well as discussed things that went well and things that need to improve. The committee discussed CDCA's and the 2015 quota as well as youth antlerless permits. This was folloed by a DMAp and research update on Elk and Deer. As well as a law enforcement update.
