    Luther received his masters degree in law from Erfurt university. But due to his freinds and family's surprise he entered the Mendicant order of the Augustinian monks.

    Luther earns doctorate degree in theology then proceed to tech it at Wittenburg university.

    Luther's many hats

    Luther assumed new positions in this time period. On top of lecturing people at university he was also named preist of wittenburg's city church. He is also appointed the Augustinian vicar for Meissen and Thuringia which puts him in charge of 11 monastaries.

    Martin luther issues an apology to the pope stating that he did not intend to undermine the authority of the church, along with other cocessions determined by Carl von Militz.

    Martin luther receives a papal bull saying he would be excommunicated if he did not recant, but luther did not care throwing the document in the water. Luther gains support of some at the university of erfurt along with 100 knights.

    Luther excommunicated

    Martin luther is excommunicated from the church. He is given oppurtunity to recant but refuses. He flees Worms, where trial was held, and is captured by bandits and taken to safety in wartburg castle, where he hid for 11 months.

    Luther's ban is lifted in february of 1522. He goes to preach in Erfurt and Weimar for two years after that.
