He had skipped two grades in high school and entered Morehouse at the age of 15. He later earned his degree in Sociology from Morehouse and then attended liberal Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester, Pennsylvania. Although he was accepted into Yale for his doctrone, he decided to study at Boston University. -
MLK married Coretta Scott King.
After meeting in Boston, they were married at Coretta's family home in Alabama. The service was performed by Martin's father. They later had four children. -
Martin Luther King Jr. is elected president of Montgomery Improvement Association
After participating in the bus boycotts in Montgomery, Alabama, he is then elected the president of the MIA. -
Famous "I Have A Dream Speech" is given.
The March on Washington held August 28 is the largest civil rights demonstration in history with nearly 250,000 people in attendance.
At the march, King makes his famous I Have a Dream speech. -

Dr. King is the youngest person to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for Peace at age 35. -
Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated by sniper, James Earl Ray.
James Earl Ray was found after a 2 month long internional manhunt. He was convicted to 99 years in prison and died while serving that time in 1998. -
Martin Luther King Day was signed to become a national holiday.
It was signed into law by President Ronald Reagan. -
