1483

Martin Luther is born on November 10, 1483. He was the father of the protestant movement who challenged the church

1502

Martin Luther gets his bachelor's degree. He then goes on to begin law school.

1505

A great lightning storm occurs and scares Martin Luther. He was so afraid that he pledged himself to God if he didn't die. He goes on to become a monk

1512

Martin Luther gets his doctorate. He goes on to write about religion in his writings

1516

1513-1516

Martin Luther gained black robes as his only clothing. He was then made Vicar in 1516, where he began to oversee other churches.

1517

Martin Luther learns about the indulges of Church and that you buy your way into heaven. Martin Luther is enraged and writes the 95 theses which was a list of complaints against the church. He nails the 95 theses on the door of the Catholic Church.

1519

Martin Luther writes about his beliefs which were that Christians are saved through their own faith in God. The writings included 'On Christian Liberty', 'On the Freedom of a Christian Man', 'To the Christian Nobility' and 'On the Babylonian Captivity of the Church'.

1520

The pope sends a letter to Martin Luther to recant his statements about the church and he'll be forgiven. Martin Luther does not care.

1521

Luther is excommunicated from the church. King Charles V says that Luther must hold a proper court hearing.

1521

Martin Luther is called to a meeting called "The Diet of Worms" and is declared an outlaw after the meeting for his work. Frederick the Third hides Luther during his time as an outlaw.
