Age at 8, Morris attended a performce by the Jose Greco Flamenco Company which ultimately was the deciding factor of what made him become a Spanish dancer.

Age 11 he took spanish dance classes to dance professionally.

At age 13, Morris joined Koleda Folk Ensemble.

At the young age of 14, Morris started choreoghraphing profesionally.

Graduated early at the age of 16 and left to start studying in Spain.

After studying in Spain, Morris moved to N.Y.C. and danced with numerous companies.

Morris launched his dance company and named it Mark Morris Dance Group. He had 10 dancers at this time.

Morris's reputation became solid at the Brooklyn Academy Musics. He than began the Next Wire Festival

Morris won a Guggenheim fellowship. During this year he also started choreographing for major ballet companies as well as touring.

Morris was the director and choreographer for the Theatre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels. He also expanded his company further and happened to rename it Monnaie Dance Group/Mark Morris. Choreographed L'Allegro il Penserosa ed il Moderato.

Dido and Aeneas which was a dance version of the opera. Morris danced for two parts; Dido and Sorceress.

Morris founded the White Oak Dance Project with Makhail Baryshnickov and created work with him Makhail until 1995.

Morris and his company returned from Brussels. Created between five and six new works each year for his company. Choreographed: Hard Nut version of the Nutcracker.

Morris was named a Fellow of the MacArthur Foundation and currently has 11 honorary doctorates.

By the year 2001 he choreographed for more than 100 pieces. Publsihed a photo and essay book called "L'Allegro, il Penserosa ed il Moderato: A Celebration" Mark Morris Dnace Center opened as first permanent home in Brooklyn, New York

Establishment of The School at the Mark Morris Dance Center. The Center has rehearsal space for the dance community, outreach programs for local children and persons with Parkinson's disease, and dance classes to any age.

Morris premiered the 150th work of his professional career, Festival Dance, at his dance center in Brooklyn, NY. This was a sold out event.

Proud moment because Morris is the first dancer and choreographer to be a director for the Ojai Music Festival.
