Rupert's Land is purchased by Canada

The Metis felt that Rupert land was theirs.
Some Ontarions thought that Rupert's land should join Canada.
The Metis were scared of assimilation .Canada was purchased for 1.5 million dollars.

Arrmed Metis stop surveyors

Oct 12, 1869

The Metis confronted the surveyors they got to Red River.

Thomas Scott is killed

Mar 4, 1870

He threatened to kill the government, then he went to trial, was aquised of being guilty,then he got shot.

Creation of the Manitoba Act

Jul 15, 1870

The Government passed the Manitoba Act which created Manitoba.Canadian government promised to grant a pardon to any Metis who had been involved in the resistance at Red River.

a group of Metis travel to the states and bring Riel back to Canada

Jul 18, 1884

Ontario Volunteers thought it was their job to punish the Metis and capture Louis Riel. Riel knew he was in danger so he crossed into the United States.

The Metis defeat police at Duck Lake

New comers flooded the area.The Cree joined the resistance to help the Metis

Metis and Cree people surrender

Jun 20, 1885

Metis and Cree ran out of bullets for their guns so they needed to find some other weapon to use.After three days of fighting 200-300 Metis and Cree and Dakota allies surrendered.
