    In 1912 the Africa National Congress was formed. They believed that there should be no racism in the world. They also decided to use peaceful method(DS 1,16).

    Mandela was born on July 18,1918.In a tiny village called Mvezo in the region of South Africa known as Traskei(A Rural Childhood).
  • Mandela continues education

    At age 16 Mandela continued hos education even though normal African children stopped their education at age 16.He wanted to be an advisor to kings(DS 2,12).
  • Mandela goes to Fort Hare

    Mandela went to Fort Hare to continue his enducation when he was 20.He studied law so that some da y he could obtain rights reserved for whites(DS 1,34).

    In 1944 Nelson Mandela formed the youth League in the ANC which contributed to the success of the ANC.

    The rivonia trial was a result of mandela and several member of teh ANC being charged with recruiting and training for the purpose of sabotage and violent revoulution. All defendants pleaded not guilty(DS 2,11)
  • Mandela's visitor

    Mandela was visited by his daughter Zindzi for the first time in 12 years. She was 15 years old. the meeting was emotional and reminded Mandela of what he was missing on the outside.

    Nelson Mandela was offered a pardon and release from jail in return for removing the violence. He refused and would only agree if the apartheid laws were also removed.

    At 4:15,Sunday,Februar 11,1990 Mandela was released from prison after 10,000 days. He was 71 years old when he left(DS 1,21).

    In 1993 Mandel and president De Klerk recieves the Nobel Prize for peace. They were awarded standing together in Oslo,Norway(DS 2,2).
