    The first agreement in America for self government to be created and enforced.
  • Petition of Right

    Petition of Right
    A refusal by Parliament to finance the King's foreign policy. It was a statement of civil liberties, sent to Charles I, by the English Parliament.

    The Bill creates separation of powers, and limits the King and Queen power.

    The Sons of Liberty and Samuel Adams boarded three ships in the Boston harbor and tossed 342 chests of tea overboard. It pushed both sides closer to war. This resulted in the passage of the punitive Coercive Acts in 1774.
