During this Great War, advancements in technology and a reliance on ground attacks caused casualty number to reach beyond 9 million combatants with an Allied victory.

    Two opposing miltary allinaces, the Allies who faught to defend their countries and the Axis who faught to dominate other territories, composed the majority of the world's nations in the deadliest conflict in human history. As a result of this war, Allies recieved victory, the Japanese Empire fell, and the Cold War began with the United States and the Soviet Union.

    Pearl Harbor Website Pearl Harbor, a base for the United States Navy, was attacked by the Japanese military which catalysts the United States involvement in WWII. As a military rebuttle, the United States launched "Little Boy" in 1945, ending WWII for the Japanese.

    World Trade Center Attacks
    In New York City on the morning of September 11, 2001 an Islamic terrorist group known as al-Qaeda attacked the United States when two airplanes struck the World Trade Center complex. Almost 3,000 people died as a result of Osama bin Laden's organized attack. In 2011, this terrorist leader was captured and killed by U.S. forces.
