A document, signed by King John, that provided political rights to English barons. It is significant to our founding because we based our Consititution on this, so our government could give U.S. citizens rights. -

First successful English settlement in North America. Named for King James I of England, Jamestown was founded in the Colony of Virginia.It's imortant because it was the first successful English settlement in North America. -

The first governing document of Plymouth. It was written by the colonists, later known as the Pilgrims, who crossed the Atlantic aboard the Mayflower. It was imprtant because it was the first written framework of government in the US. -

A document that sets out specific liberties of a subject that the king can't go against. Its significant because we used dome of th clauses in tis document to form our Consititution. -

The Act of rights and liberties formed by the British Parliament. It's significant because it set the base of many of our rights today in our government. -

A proposal that was suggested by Benjamin Franklin, to unify the thirdteen Colonies. It significant because it created the country. -
Stamp Act
The act of the British Parliament that exacted revanue from the American Colonies by imposing stamp duties on newspapers and legal and commercial documents. It is significant because the act's repeal it helped encourage the revolutionary movement against the British. -
Boston Massacre
A riot formed by the Boston citizens against the British troops, the British fired into the crowed and killed five people. It is significant because the killings increased the colonist inclination toward Revolution. -
Boston Tea Party
Citizens rebelled against the government because tax on tea was too high. They dumped a ship load of tea into the harbor to protest. It was significant because it shows that the citizens can protest against the government when they are not being fair. In the end they lowered the taxes. -

A name to describe five laws that the British parliament passed that was aimed at breaking resistance after the events of the Boston Tea Party.It's significant because it changed most of the Massechuttes government positions. -
First Continental Congress
It was a convention of delagates from the twelve of the thirdteen colonies in North America. It's significant becuase if this didn't happen we wouldn't have a Congress, which is a huge part of our government. -

A revolution of the American Colonies agaisnst Great Britain. It was important because it made us independent from Britain. -

A convention of delagates from the thirdteen colonies. It's significant because it was a impactful meeting that would go on to form the base of the American government. -

A document asserting independence for the colonies of Great Britain. It significant because it was the stepping stones of our indepence for our government. -
Articles of Confederation
A written agreement ratifed by the thirdteen original states, that gave the central governement no power over the states or their citizens. It is significant to the founding of our nation because it sperates the federal and state governments. -
Shay's Rebellion
An armed uprising about farms being foreclosed on and it was named after Daniel Shays, a veteran who lead the rebels in the American Revolution. It was significant because it persuaded conservatives of the need of strong national government. -
Philadelphia Convention
Representatives from former colonies came to make the Constitution, it was also framed there. Its significant because our country was built on the rules of the Constitution. -
Constitution Convection
Convention of United States statesmen who drafted the United States Constitution. Its important because the US Constitution was the governments form of the citizens rights. -
Conneticut Compromise
An agreement between large and small states reached during the Constitutional Convention. It was important because it defined the legislative structure and representation that each state would have.
