    amestown, Virginia, named after King James I, was Americas first permanent settlement. It encouraged other people to come to America.

    The Mayflower Compact was an informal document signed by a group of Separatists to create a government. They were also trying to get away from religious persecution in England. It is known as the “Foundation of the U.S. Constitution.

    A document written in England that said what rights the king could not infringe upon. This included taxes that weren't carried out by Parliament.

    This gave British Parliament many rights to do unfair things to America. It limited the rights of many of them. One example was it said they could not create an army in time of peace without consent of Parliament.
