    Magna Carta
    This gave rights to the citizens of England more rights. This document came about because King John was known as a tyrant. King John was forced to sign this document by the barons whoi rebelled and captured London. The prupose of this document was to limit the power of the King.
  • Jamestown Settled

    This was the first successful English settlement in North America. It was named after King James I of England. Jamestown was founded in the Colony of Virginia on April 26, 1607
  • Mayflower Compact written

    The first governing document of Plymouth Colony. Written by the colonists, then later together known as the "history as the Pilgrims".
  • Petition of Right

    Petition of Right
    Established by King Charlies 1 it was made up of four principles. They included. No taxes would be given" without Parliament consent; no imprisonment without a shown cause; soldiers cannot be put in private houses; and martial law cannot be used in times of peace"
  • English Bill of Rights

    The English Bill of Rights limited the power of the English sovereign. It also stated how engliush men had some rights, such as civil and political.

    Benjamin Franklin's first prestend plan, to unit eleven of the American colonies. This document was made in attemps to form a government where the elven colonies would have to work together.Franklin's plan was to create a legislative body that has the power to control commerce and make a common defense against their enemy, France..
  • Stamp Act

    This was a direct tax enforced by the British Parliament directed towards the colonies of British America. This said that everything had to pbe printed on taxed british stamped paper.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was the killing of five colonists by British citizens .It was the build-up of tensions in the American colonies that had been rising since Royal troops first arrived in Massachusetts in October 1768 to enforce the heavy tax imposed by the Townshend Acts.

    This was Americas first constitution made by the first thirteen states.This document is made up of thirteen Articles.Here are the first three. The first article declared the nation the name United Satates of America. The second article stated that each state should keep its sovereignty and freedom. The third article promoted friendship among the states with a common defense.

    A group of citizens, who protested against the monopoly on American tea importated by Parliament to the East India Company,dressed up as indians and took 342 chests of tea in a midnight rampage on three tea ships and threw them into the harbor.

  • Second Continental Congress

    The Second Continental Congress started on May 10, 1775. The delegates from the 13 colonies gathered in Philadelphia. they established the militia as the Continental Army that represented the thirteen states. They then elected George Washington as Commander in Chief of the Continental Army.

    This was a revolution of the American Colonies against Great Britain, trying to gain their independence.

    A statement given by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, which announced that the thirteen American colonies, as an independent nation.
  • Constitution Convention

    The convention of United States statesmen who drafted the United States Constitution in 1787. At this convention it was signed by 38 delegates on the last day of the convention.
  • Shay's Rebellion

    Shay's Rebellion
    Led by Daniel Shays, who was mad about being denied paper money to prevent foreclosure on the land of farmers, they rebellied against the government to prove how serious the farmers were. They lost all of their land and property do to postwar depression. Shays fleet were supposed to come and aid Shays during the attack, but because of a lack in communication Shay lost and was force to leave.

    This convention was held in Philadelphia. There was representatives from each colony, except Rhode Island. During this convention the Constitution of the U.S. was framed
  • Connecticut Compromise (Great Compromise)
