  • The Start of The Great Depression

    The Great Depression is the Tuesday when the stock market crashed, it became know as Dark Tuesday. The crash caused many people to lose their jobs and many became homeless as well. Prime Minister R.B. Bennet thought the crash would roll over sooner than later.
  • Invasion of Poland - Triggered the Start of WW2

    When Hitler invaded Poland and divided it with Stalin of Russia, it became too much considering that he invaded a couple countries prior to Poland. This act of invading Poland triggered the start of WW2 when England and France declared war on Germany.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    On December 7th, 1941 the Us was attacked by 353 Japanese fighters, bombers, and torpedo planes. The attack caused damage to all the US Navy battleships, 4 of which were sunk. This was a major blow to the US and a major victory for the Japanese. The US declared war on Japan and then Italy and Germany declared war on the US.
  • Battle of Hong Kong

    The Battle of Hong Kong oocured from December 8 - December 25, 1941. The Canadian, British, and Indian forces helped in the defence of Hong Kong, the Allies had 14 000 troops and Japan had 52 000. Hong Kong surrendered to Japan, 10 000 troops captured and sent to camps around Japan.
  • The Final Solution

    In 1942, the Nazi's wanted to exterminate all Jews, they hated them because they were told that Jews were the cause of the first war, and that they were not pure Germans. The Nazi's either sent the Jewish people to concentration where they would be forced to work or they were sent to death camps where they were killed.
  • Dieppe Raid

    The Dieppe Raid was an unfortunate start for the Allies, many Canadian troops lost their lives and many other troops were captured. The unfortunate results helped the Allies learn of their mistakes and plan to counter such mistakes in upcoming battles.
  • D-Day

    D-Day is considered the largest seaborne invasion of its time, it was a battle between the Germans and Allies at Normandy South, The Allies lured the Germans to Pas de Calais where they were forced to fight the east, south and west fronts all at the same time.
  • VE Day

    VE Day aka Victory in Europe Day is a day that represents when the German forces surrendered to the Allies. Both Mussolini and Hitler died during this time and since neither was alive, there was no reason to continue fighting the war. The Allies came out victorious against Italy and Germany.
  • United Nations is Formed

    On June 26th, 1945, 51 countries went to San Francisco and signed the United Nations Charter because before the war ended, everyone wanted world peace but they needed and international organization to secure the peace. The UN wanted to band together to encourage cooperation between countries, to defend human rights, and to improve living conditions for people around the world.
  • VJ Day

    VJ Day aka Victory in Japan Day is the day Japan surrendered to the Allies, this means it was last war of WW2. Japan surrendered because of the 2 atomic bombs that were drop on its cities, they feared that they'd be destroyed as a country.
