    A war conjured by tension caused by British soldiers invading the homes and lives of Americans and enforcing unfair acts including the Sugar Act, the Stamp Act, and the Townshend Acts aiming to raise money for the British empire. Bands of patriots harassed British loyalists and disrupted supply lines causing the British to be defeated by American and French forces at the last major battle of Yorktown in 1781. The Declaration of Independence was created to try an form a new government.

    War fought between the Union in the north and the Confederacy in the south due to disagreements over slavery, with the south fighting in favor of it. The outcome was a win for the Union during the last Battle of Palmito Ranch. This resulted in the Emancipation Proclamation created by president Abraham Lincoln which freed all slaves and abolished slavery.

    A global war that included the Allies; U.S., Great Britain and France and other European countries against Axis powers Germany, Italy, Japan, and other European countries. It cost the United States a million causalities and nearly 400,000 deaths. It was won by the Allies and ended the Great Depression and dramatically expanded government's presence in American life. Famous Battles include Pearl Harbor, The Battle of France, The Battle of Britain, and D-Day.

    Cold War

    The Cold War was the tense relationship between the United States and the Soviet Union which were the great superpowers at that time after World War II. This war was unlike other wars in that the two sides never clashed directly in battle. It was a period of threats of nuclear bombing and paranoia on both sides. At the end, U.S. President Ronald Reagan started to challenge the Soviet Union as its economy was declining, and the fall of the Berlin Wall and crash of the Soviet Union ended it.

    Vietnam War

    A war fought between North Vietnam and the government of South Korea in which the U.S. had major involvement in. The U.S. conducted a large-scale strategic bombing campaign against North Vietnam while American citizens protested U.S. involvement in the war which resulted in 58,220 deaths of U.S. soldiers. In the end the Paris Peace Accord was signed, ending the war in favor of North Korea.

    The 2000 election was the first in 112 years in which a president lost the popular vote but captured enough states to win the electoral vote. George W. Bush's presidency was reshaped when the terrorist attacks on Sep. 11th, 2001 took place, Bush's top priority was to send troops to Iraq in hopes of capturing Osama Bin-Laden, the leader of the attacks, in which later president Barrack Obama would achieve. The 21st century marked a turning point in modernization, technologically and economically.
