In 1838 Mathian Jakob Shleiden made a careful study of plant issue and discovered sperm and red blood cells. Mathian also observed creatures made of single cells and gave them their name of 'animacules.'

In 1839, Theodor Schwann pullsed exisisting obsevations into theory that stated 1. Cells are organisms. 2. All organisms consist of one or cells. 3. Cells are the basic structure unit for all organisms. 4. Plants and animals consist of combinations of organisms which are arranged in accordance with definite rules. Theodor also discovered that cells have common features like a nucleus.
