  • battle of stlingrad

    Nearly two million troops fought in this close-quarters battle and nearly 2 million people died. German forces had attempted to invade and capture but Russian forces were able to combat them. Hitler’s goal was to take Moscow and Stalin’s goal was to defend it. But he turned to Stalingrad instead because it was Russia’s industrial center also because of propaganda purposes. In defense, Stalin ordered any Russian that can hold a gun to stand in defense of the city.

    It was a German attack strategy implemented by Hitler in WWII. It's main purpose or meaning is lightning war and it consists af an attack of speed and force to wipe through whatever at a very fast rate and don’t let up. It was a very successful strategy. It was mainly there to have shorter conflicts and consists of mobile maneuverable forces and flexible tactics. The blitzkrieg was first used in 1936 in the Spanish civil war.

    It was an effort to break the spirits of the Chinese ordered by General Matsui Iwane. In that effort, they burned much of Nanking and butchered all of 150,000 war prisoners. On top of that they massacred 50,000 male civilians and raped at least 20,000 women and girls and a lot were killed in the process. Shortly after the end of WWII Matsui was found guilty of his crime and executed
  • Munich conference

    The Munich conference is an agreement between Great Britain, France, Italy, and Germany. It essentially was giving Germany land so that they could stay away from war. The land that was given was the Sudetenland. Germany then began annexing the new land. They thought that this would keep the Germans from doing anything else but they were wrong after that Hitler just wanted more and more land.

    It was an agreement between the Soviets and the Germans right after world war II started that stated that they would take no military action upon each other for the next 10 years. Stalin saw this as a way to keep the peace while he builds up the Soviet army. While Hitler saw this as a way to be able to invade Poland unopposed. There was also a secret agreement on how they would later divide up Europe.

    Germany invaded Poland essentially to regain lost territory and rule their neighboring country. Once he had a base of operations in Poland he immediately started setting up security and concentration camps. The polish attempts to fight back were awful they made miscalculations, they were under-equipped, and even attempted to fight the Germans head-on. Also, Hitler used the German-Soviet nonaggression pact to his advantage because he knew he wouldn’t get any counter fits from Russian force

    It was the world’s longest continuous battle between the allies and the axis powers. The allies struck a naval blockade against Germany. The axis used u boats to strike a counter-blockade. There were 100 plus battles in a five-year span with about 100,000 lives lost. But the eventual use of allies convoys, aircraft and technology eventually turns the tide in the favor of the allies.

    It was a German invasion of the Soviet Union. Hitler wanted to invade the Soviet union because he thought that it would be an easy take. But the invasion eventually failed. Also this eventually lead to the munic pact signing surprisingly.

    Pearl harbor was U.S naval base in Honolulu Hawaii. It was victim to a surprise Japanese attack. During the attacks, they wiped out many of the U.S naval fleet. And caused many casualties among Americans. After that President Roosevelt declared war on Japan.
  • the battle of El Alamein

    It was a battle for control of North Africa between allied forces and German forces in Africa. Rommel the german leader of the Germans in Africa managed to force a British retreat back into Egypt with his panzer divisions. The British were being weakened when Rommel stepped in and then Italy decided that they would partake in the defeating of Britain because Hitler decided he wanted Eygpt. Until America stepped in and reinforced Britain and then managed to push Rommel backintoastandstillinEygpt
  • d-day

    It was the allies’ attempt that was eventually successful in taking western Europe from Germany’s control. When the battle began 156,000 allied forces landed on five beaches on a 50-mile stretch. This invasion needed much planning and a well sought out plan to work. Before they attacked they created a diversion for the German forces to lighten the load on the beach. Sadly over 4,000 troops died in the attempt to storm the beach. Less than a week later the beaches were fully secured.
  • kamikaze

    Kamikaze is a strategy implemented by japan where they use suicide planes and they crashed in to the U.S naval fleet in Okamura. They volunteered because it would be giving their lif to save the country and their families. They estimate in all of the attacks that only 3,000 brits and Americans in the pacific and they crashd more than 1,321 planes during the war. They were first used in the battle of the Leyte Gulf in 1944.
  • battle of iwo jima

    it was a military campaign between the U.S marines and the Japanesese. The battle lasted for five weeks and 21,000 japanese soldiers were killed also 7,000 american soldiers died. Japan soldiers came up with a new plan and used the camouflage landscape to repel the initial U.S attack. They also used the landscape to trap the U.S soldiers and surprise attacked them when they were stuck.
