  • Russian Revolution 1917

    After WW1 the Russian people see that the monarchy of old no longer works and over throw the
  • Potsdam Conference

    A meeting after WW2 between President Truman (U.S.A), Winston Churchill (U.K), and Joseph Stalin (U.S.S.R) about Germany and its future more specifically it's government. (7/17/1945--8/2/1945)
  • Nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima

    In an effort to end the war in the pacific theater and save American lives the U.S drops the newly created atomic weapon on japanese city Hiroshima
  • Nuclear bomb dropped on Nagasaki

    A second atomic bomb was dropped by the U.S on another Japanese city Nagasaki to ensure that the Japanese would unconditionally surrender
  • Truman Doctrine

    This Doctrine was created to let the world and its citizens know that the U.S had a foreign policy that did not take kindly to Authoritarian leadership in nearby countries.
  • Hollywood 10

    Ten actors who were accused of supporting and being part of the communist party.These 10 were also called to an investigation and questioned.
  • Berlin Blockade and Airlift

    An effort was made by the U.S.S.R after WW2 to get the other allied powers to let go of their hold on the German capital (Berlin). Soon after the allied powers made efforts to continue their interaction with their portions of Berlin causing the U.S.S.R to lift its earlier made blockade. (1948--1949)
  • Marshall Plan

    Also known as the European recovery plan the Marshall Plan was basically the U.S dumping money in to western economies to ensure that they did not become communist.(1948--1952)
  • NATO

    NATO or the North Atlantic Treaty Organization was created to halt the spread of communism in the North Atlantic.
  • Soviet Bomb Test

    This project was created by the Soviets for the sole purpose of creating nuclear weapons and on August 29, 1949 the Soviets successfully detonate their first atomic bomb
  • Korean War

    The Korean War was a war in which south Korea supported by the U.S fought against the Soviet and Chinese supported North Koreans for a capitalist government the county ends up getting split with the North being communist and South becoming capitalist.(1950--1953)
  • Warsaw Pact

    A direct opposite to NATO the Warsaw Pact was created to stop the spread of capitalism Near the Soviet satellites.
  • Iron Curtain

    A metaphorical line in the sand as it were dividing Capitalist countries from the Communist ones.
