William Golding was born on September 11 1911 in Newquay, Cornwall, England. His father was Alec Golding, and his mother was Mildred Golding. -
Childhood.
William Golding grew up in Marlborough, Wiltshire, where his father taught at the local grammar school. From a young age WIlliam Golding was always fascinated by literature and started writing stories. -
Teenage years.
During William golding's teenage years he continued to develop his interest in reading and riding. He attended Marlborough Grammar school where his father was a teacher and would help William more and more with his reading and writing. During Williams teenage years he was known as the rebel. He was also fascinated in poetry and he eventually started writing his own poems. -
Young adult years.
After William Golding graduated in 1935, he was initially a teacher and a theatrical director. Even in hi adult years, he was still known as a rebellion in a way, and that would later reflect on his book "Lord of The Flies". After working with troubled and disadvantaged kids, William Golding got many ideas for his book "Lord of The Flies". -
life after teaching
William Golding soon went off to collage at the University of Oxford. William majored in English literature and worked as a teacher for many years, but soon decided to abandon college and teaching and enlisted in the British Navy. William served in the navy for 6 years and was released in 1946. -
Adult years
After William served in the British Navy as a lieutenant for 6 years, he continued to teach at the bishop wordsworth. William Golding started to write his first ever published book "Lord of The Flies" and eventually finished and published it in 1954. -
