Linus Torvalds was Born on 28 December 1969 in Helsinki, Finland.He was the grandson of a Finnish journalist and poet Ole Torvalds.

He was enrolled in the University of Helsinki. At the university he was also part of the nodes research group.

During he's time of study, he had to take a break from school because he was enrolled in the Finnish army and attended an eleven month training programme so he could obtain hes compulsory military service criteria of Finland. Nevertheless, he was a second lieutenant in the army

When he went back to school in the early 1990's, he because more fascinated with computer science. He purchased a clone of IBM PC called Intel80386.

Later that year Linus made it clear that open source was the only right method to do software and that no matter, he uses the most efficient tool for the job even if it involves proprietary software. Obviously he was bound to be criticized for this.

Only two percent of the Linux kernel was written by Torvalds himself because it was open source. Thus many hackers have contributed and built of the Linux Kernel. Nevertheless Torvald has the most authority and is the deciding factor for new code developement into the Linux
