The owner of face book is Mark Zuckerberg. Mark and friends decided to come up with a social site to reunite Howard students. In the beginning, only Harvard students were allowed to create profiles on the site. But later, the site expanded to allow students from other colleges, with its user count reaching one million by September 2004. (Jalan, A. 2023, February 5).

Among the greatest challenges Zuckerberg had to put up with is finding investors for his social network. Since Facebook was a one-of-a-kind platform in the beginning, not many people believed in its potential. As such, he had to struggle to secure funding and bring investors on board Pressfarm (May 2023).

In September of 2004 facebook allowed many students from different colleges to create a facebook account. This allowed facebook to gain more than one million users. By December of 2005 facebook had six million users. In April of 2006 facebook was then available of mobile for download. This platform was made available for everyone on the internet of age 10 and up.

As face book gains more followers and begin to enhance features Mark and his team decided to come up with the lie button. facebook then begin to add more features such as Chat, Pages, Facebook Ads, and video support.

In July of 2010 facebook has more than 500 million users. In 2011 the team comes up with a new feature that can be downloaded from a smart phone or tablet "Messenger".

In 2013, Facebook became a Fortune 500 company; this milestone clarified how popular the company has truly become. The same year, the company launched new features, like Videos and Direct on Instagram. (Jalan, A. 2023, February 5).
