Ruth was making her famous Butter Drop Dough cookies, and Ruth was in a hurry and out of baking chocolate and so instead of that cut up peices of Nestles Semi-Sweet chocolate bar. Stirred the small pieces whole andshe thought it would melt as normal bakking choclate but it didn't melt. When they where done baking they became popular and Ruth decied to call them Toll House cookies
