In the year of 1452 Da Vinci was born out of Vinci, Italy to his father Ser Piero and a young peasant woman named Caterina. Leonardo da Vinci was raised by his father and his stepmother. ~Renewal of civil war in England

1459

Although the Wars lasted for thirty years most of this period was actually peaceful. There was three main periods of conflict. The first lasted from 1455 until 1464, and saw Edward IV established as king. The second lasted from 1469-71 and saw Edward IV briefly deposed by Warwick the Kingmaker and the supporters of Henry VI.

Edward IV was crowned king at Westminster Abbey. Edward had been declared king after defeating the Lancastrian forces at the Battle of Towton in March 1461. Edward had made his state entry riding from Lambeth to the Tower of London.

Turks conquer Bosnia

Bosnia was independent until 1463, until the Ottoman Turks conquered their region. In the reign of King, Stephan, Bosnia was conquered by a man named Sultan Mohammed II. Sultan Mohammed II resolved this issue to avoid subjection.

Columbus returns from the Carribean

1463

Explorer Columbus made four trips across the Atlantic Ocean from Spain in the years 1492 to 1502. He wanted to find a direct water route west from Europe to Asia, but he never found this. While searching for his targeted route he accidentally sailed upon the Americas.

When leonardo da vinci was about 12 years old, he left Vinci,Italy and moved to Florence with his father. During this time Florence was a Republic, and governed by an elected assembly. This was run by one family, the Mediche.

~His first masterpiece

1476

Around the age of 24, Vinci finished his first masterpiece. This painting was the Baptism of christ by St.John. This painting took him a little over two years, and was commissioned by the monks of San Salvi near Florence. This painting was one of his few beautiful religious paintings, but this was special and the most popular of his christian faith paintings.

~Invention of the parachute

1480

Leonardo is known to be the one who invented the parachute. During his lifetime he was in many studies some including birdflight, and geometry. When his notes and journals were being found(after his death) when these notes, drawings, observations and scientific theories surfaced many things brought him back to the invention.

~Completion of the first of two versions of Virgin of the Rocks

1483

Around the year 1483 leonardo finished the first version of the virgin of the rocks, this was a painting done for the monastery. This painting showed Mary in a rocky;mountainous setting with the christ child, this was another one of his religious paintings. This was a 2 version painting, this being the first and the second being finished in 1508.

James lll of Scottland was murdered

1488

Matters came to a stop on 11 June 1488. When the king James lll faced the army raised by the nobles and many former councillors near Stirling the king was defeated and killed, this occured at the Battle of Sauchieburn. After his death the throne was succeeded by James lV

~Last Supper painting

1495

This was a religious painting depicting when Christ announces to his disciples the act of betrayl would happen. This was a long picture and the paper wasn't wide enough. Thi painting was covered with grime,dirt, and candle smoke but went through restoration in 1903.

Vasco de Gama reaches India

1498

After sailing to receive the crown, Vasco da Gama reaches India. Successfully he sailed around the southern tip of Africa. Da Gama had found a sea route from Europe to Asia this led to the new control of the spice trade.

~studies of bird flight and geometry

At the age of 53 he studied flight, and geometry. He was a very smart man and before when people only thought he was an artist, this was soon changed after finding out he did so much more. Many entries and note books were found that showed these studies revealing he was a well rounded renaissance person.

~mona lisa his most famous painting

1507

when Divinci was 60 years old he completed his most well known painting, the portrait of Mona Lisa. This was a painting of a new widow and who looked identical to the person. This is known all around the world, and this painting can be found in france in the Louvre Museum.

~Service of francis I

1517

In his later life he moved from Milan and settled in Rome he met the new king Francis. Francis was fascinated by Leonardo's art and by the age of the 63 he seemed to have been an inspirational figure, and he invited him to join his court. Leonardo was offered a huge pension and the patronage of a new and successful king.

~Death

May 2, 1519

At the age of 67, Da vinci had passed away, at his last stop in Amboise, France. He never stopped working and was a very successful man. Up until his death he worked on his scientific studies, and the theories he believed in. During his lifetime he was known as famous artist, writer, mathmatician, and an inventor.
