Harvey Milk was born in Woodmere, New York. -
Teenage years
Harvey milk went to Bay shore high school, where he was very acctive in sports amoung other things like opera. He graduated in 1947 -
College
Harvey Milk went to New York college for teachers, and majored in mathematics. He was also very active in the college newspaper. -
Graduation, and joing the Navy
Harvey milk graduated in 1951, the went into the navy during the Korean war. He worked on the submarine rescue ship USS Kittiwake (ASR-13) as a diving officer. -
Stonewall Riots
A riot broke out at the Stonewall inn, which was a local gay bar in New York on Chritpher street. The next few days that followed even more riots erupted in the streets. this was the beginning of an evolution. -
Harvey enters the Navy
Harvey Milk opened Castro Camera. The store become a place that people could always go for help. -
election
MIlk was elected to the Bored of Supervisors after running for office four times. He was the first openly gay person that had been elected into a public office. -
Gay Freedon Day Parade
Harvey rides in the Gay Freedom Day Parade, urging bystanders and television viewers to come out to their families, friends, and coworkers, but Harvey himself never comes out to his parents. -
Assaination of Harvey Milk
Dan white a former member on the bored of supervisors, murdered the mayor of San Francisco, and the newly elected Supervisor, Harvey milk, in City hall.
