  • 1803 - Louisiana Purchase

    Jefferson negotiates with Napoleon Boneaparte the leader of France to purchase the Louisiana territory the cost was 15 million which was about 4 cents per acre it expanded the area of our country
  • 1804 - Expadition begins

    May 14 1804 Lewis and Clark Leave st Lous with their crew boats supplies and their dog seaman to begin their exploration of the Missouri river and hoping to find a water route to Pacific Ocean
  • 1804 - fort Mandan

    October 1804 - the expedition makes ca,p with the Mandan and Hidasta native in north Dakota. They spend five winter months there they hire Charbonneau as a translator and they ask him to bring his wife Sacagawea and her newborn infant son Jean Baptiste
  • 1805 Ft. Clatsup

    November 1805 the expedition arrives at the pacific ocean they build a fort to winter over 4 months here only 12 days it didn't rain all were homesick most Americans thought they were dead
  • 1805 - Expedition leaves fort Mandan

    in April 1805 they get back on the river and continue their journey encounter the great falls they get too Shoshone tribe their Chief is Sacagaweas brother they get horses and cross the bitter roots Mts. Nez Perce tribe helps them, build canoes, and finally get to the pacific ocean.
