  • Hitler begins Operation Barbarossa

    On 22 June 1941 Hitler launched Operation 'Barbarossa', the invasion of the Soviet Union. It was the beginning of a campaign that would ultimately decide the Second World War. Hitler regarded the Soviet Union as his natural enemy.

    The japanese surprise attacked the U.S. Naval base and Pacific headquarters dropping bombs on the base and killing and injuring many people.
  • Bataan Death March

    75,000 United States soldiers and Filipino soldiers were surrendered to Japanese forces after months of battling in extreme-climate conditions.
  • Doolittle Raid on tokyo

    Doolittles attack was the first air attack to hit the japanese home islands during WW2. In the raid the planes dropped people off into war from the planes.
  • Battle Of the Coral Sea

    The battle prevented japan from cutting off the U.S. Supply line to Australia. World War II naval and air engagement in which a U.S. fleet turned back a Japanese invasion force that had been heading for strategic Port Moresby in New Guinea. Which was also the first time in World War 2 that something Japan did, did not go smoothly. All and All the Battle had 1622 total deaths.

    During the four-day Naval and air battle , the outnumbered U.S. Pacific Fleet succeeded in destroying four Japanese aircraft carriers while losing only one of its own, the Yorktown, to the previously invincible Japanese navy.
  • Allied victory in North Africa enables invasion of Italy to be launched.

    The United States officially entered the war in December 1941 and began direct military assistance in North Africa on 11 May 1942. Fighting in North Africa started with the Italian declaration of war on 10 June 1940.
  • The D-Day operation

    brought together the land, air, and sea forces of the allied armies in what became known as the largest invasion force in human history. The operation, given the codename OVERLORD, delivered five naval assault divisions to the beaches of Normandy, France.

    The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the detonation of two atomic bombs over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on 9 August 1945 by the United States.
