    People thought that a person should not be taxed without their consent. They protested and said things like “No Taxation without Representation!” Because as the phrase says they where upset that they had not say in whether or not they would be taxed.

    After the Boston tea party the British decided to release the intolerable acts as a way to punish the people in Massachusetts they also tried to use this to keep other people from doing the same thing.

    This document established that the United States were an independent nation and that the rights of both women and slaves would not be covered under the declaration. The document made it clear they agreed with John Locke’s philosophy. The document is supposed to protect the peoples individual life’s.

    This battle is considered the turning point of the war. The colonist beat the British troops, and the Netherlands, France, and Spain were convinced to join the war and work with America.

    The Battle of Yorktown 1781
    The Americans along with the French trapped herbal Cornwallis’s army at Yorktown in Virginia. Charles Cornwallis surrendered, and this was the last major battle of the Revolutionary War.

    The treaty officially ended the the American revolution, due to this territory larger than 13 colonies was gained.

    In 1787 the constitution established that there would be three branches of government called the legislative, the executive, and the judicial branch. The constitution said they would use a system called check and balance that would insure that each branch was only doing what they where supposed to do.

    Due to this the government was set up to have one house legislature, and established that each state would have one vote. This also established the right# of the Congress, for example they could make war or settle disputes but they could not regulate trade or enforce new laws. However this led to an unstable government and economy along with a weak central government.
