  • Stored Communications Act (SCA)

    Statutes were needed for computer crime applicable to activities that illegally accessed stored information.The SCA governs the disclosure of stored information held by internet service providers.

  • No Electronic Theft Act (NETA)

    This act criminalizes the infringement of copyrighted works, including those done by electronic means, even when there is no direct financial benefit from the infringement (i.e. pirating software).

  • Digital Theft Deterrence and Copyright Damages Improvement Act

    This act increased the amount of the damages that could be awarded in cases of copyright infringement, a crime that is closely associated with the privacy of software.
