    American colonists were frustrated with Britain because they imposed "taxation without representation", so they dumped 342 chests of tea, that was imported by the British East India Company, into the harbor. It showed the British that the Americans weren't going to just take them forcing them to pay taxes for no reason.

    Defects were discovered in the post-Revolutionary war Articles of Confederation, such as central authority over foreign and domestic commerce lacking. This led to framers coming up with a new system o give special state conventions control over which popularly elected delegates would be created to ratify the constitution
