    It was the bombing that took place during a labor demonstration at Haymarket Square in Chicago. 11 died and 50 were injured. It was a rally of workers striking for an 8 hour day.

    20,000 shirtwaist makers, mainly women launched a 14 week strike, called The Uprising. It was recognized by the industry and it won higher wages as well as important new benefits for its members, such as health examinations.

    It was one of the deadliest industrial disasters in the history of the city of New York and resulted in the fourth highest loss of life from an industrial accident in U.S. history. The fire caused 146 deaths of the garment workers. It happened in Manhattan, New York.

    The Norris-LaGuardia Act
    It is an act that outlaws "yellow dog." Yellow dog is where workers agree as a condition of employment to not join a labor union.The Norris LaGuardia Act was a federal law that banned yellow dog contracts and barred federal courts from issuing injunctions against nonviolent labor disputes, and created a positive right of noninterference by employers against workers joining trade unions.
