    The Battle of Hastings was fought between the Norman knights and English infantry. This was the earliest record of knights riding on horseback.

    The knights wore
    -Cone-shaped helmets with a protective nose strip
    -Long chain mail suits with sleeves, which were made of thousands of matal rings. The suits were called a hauberk
    -They had large kite-shaped shields
    -Worea padded wollen tunic, called a gambeson

    -Chain mail leggings cover feet

    -Hauberk is stronger
    -Padded stockings with iron braces are worn
