    The Treaty of Versailles was signed
    It was one of the peace treaties at the end of WWI and was signed exactly 5 years after the Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. The treaty of Versailles put Germany to shame and made them look guilty for causing and starting World War I. It ended the state war between Germany and the Allied Powers (Britain, Usa, Soviet Union, France and China).

    This began with the Nazi's just occupying the Northern and Western Border of Czechoslovakia and then slowly moved on to take over all of Czechoslovakia.This occured right before the beginning of WWII.

    The Treaty of Munich otherwise known as the Munich agreement, gave Germany an offer to settle for peace and allowed little allocation towards the Czechoslovakia.However it is now referred to today as a failed appeasement towards Germany. This Treaty was signed with British P.M Neville Chamberlain and German Leader Adolf Hitler.

    Hitler invaded Poland after signing the treaty of Munich and the invasion lasted 1 month and 5 days concluding 6 October 1939. This invasion was a major lead up to WWII.

    In response to Hitler's invasion to Poland, Britain and France declared war on Germany. Hitler ignored the Treaty of Munich and it is now known as a failure on appeasement. This began when Britain sunk a U-30 German Submarine with more than 1,100 passangers and 112 people died.

    The leader of Italy, Benito Mussolini entered Italy into the war on this day. During the course of the war, Italy joined forces with Germany on the side of the Axis powers. Mussolini decided to enter the war after seeing Germany's ability to crush France and destroying the Allied forces at this time.

    The Battle of Britain was essentially a battle in WWII, but with battling only using airforces. This battle lasted 3 months and 3 weeks. This was caused because the Nazi's wanted to gain air superiority. By preventing Germany from gaining this air superiority, the British sabotaged Hitler's plans so that he had to postpone operation sea-lion.

    Hitler attacks Russia - Operation Barbossa
    Operation Barbossa is the name given to Nazi Germany's invasion of Russia. It is the largest attack of WWII. Russia was attacked by three army forces and although Russia had a big military, the mass invasion took its toll. In total, Germany sent in 117 army divisions throughout the course of Operation Barbossa. It ended 5 December 1941. Operation Barbossa failed due to the Soviet union's power and allies.

    This is otherwise known as the Three-Power pact or Axis-Pact. This was the pact made for the Axis Powers of Germany, Italy and Japan. This is what made them official alliances.
  • Pearl Harbour

    In Pearl Harbor, Oahu, Hawaii, USA, at 6:00am on this day, the Japanese had launched their first wave of 181 planes, containing all torpedo bombs. The Japanese achieved a complete surprise attack on Oahu when they hit American ships and military forces they were preparing. At about 8:10am the first wave had hit and 1,177 crewmen had lost their lives and it is the most lives lost on a single ship to date in one mass explosion.

    Japan occupied singapore during WWII and it was right after the fall of the British colony. The Empire of Japan took over singapore after they won the battle of singapore. SIngapore was then however returned to British colonial rule 12 September 1945.

    It happening in Miday, Atoll. Six months after the attack on Pearl Harbour by Japan, The US Navy attack the Imperial Japanese Navy. It was the USA vs Japan. USA victory.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    Located in Stalingrad, Russia. This battle lasted 5 Months, 1 week and 3 days. This battle was one with the Axis powers, Nazis fought the Soviet Union in hopes of gaining control of Russia. The Axis Powers lost 270,000 personell and the Germans lost the 6th Army. This was the turning point of European Theatre of WWII.
  • Second Battle of El Alamein

    Second Battle of El Alamein
    This marked the culmination of the WWII North African Campaign between the British Empire and the German-Italy Army. The battle was located in El Alamein, Egypt. The Allies came out victorious. This was after the Axis had the advantage after the first battle in August. There were 30,542 casualties on the Axis side.

    This happened in Normandy, France. Allies vs Nazis. The allied powers victory. This was the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during WWII. This is the largest seaborn invasion in history. This restored the French republic after the Allies won.
  • Mussolini captured and executed

    Mussolini captured and executed
    Benito Mussolini and his wife were captured by the communist partisans, Valerio and Bellini near the village of Dongo as the two were headed to Switzerland to board a plane so they could escape to Spain. However with their escape route unsuccessful, they were shot amongst 15 other facist party leaders on the same day all in the same place. On the 29 April 1945, All the corpses of those executed were brought to Pizzale Loreto. The bodies were hung then further shot, tortured and spat on.
  • Hitler commits suicide

    Hitler commits suicide
    Adolf Hitler commited suicide in his Fuhrerbunker in Berlin. He died by a gunshot to his head and to double the certainty of his death, he also ingested a cyanide pill. His wife Eva also commit suicide on the same day by his side taking a cyanide pill. Hitler killed himself because he knew he was clearly defeated and there was no way out. If the Russians got a hold of him alive, he would have been tortured relentlessly.
  • Atomic Bomb dropped on Hiroshima

    Atomic Bomb dropped on Hiroshima
    This atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima, Japan by the USA towards the end of WWII. There was also a second atomic bomb dropped in Nagasaki three days later. These have been the only two atomic bombs to have ever been used in the entire history of warfare. These bombs destroyed mass Japanese land and villages killing over 246,000 people in total. The Allied planned for this costly invasion of Japan.
  • Japanese Surrender

    This surrender by the Japanese is what brought the conlusion of WWII. The Japanese surrendered because their lost was definate, the Allied powers atomic bombs destroyed almost everything in Japan. They had nothing left to fight for. The Allied powers had clearly won the war. The state of war formally came to an end when The Treaty of San Francisco came into place, 28 April, 1952 and then came the Soviet-Japanese joint declaration 1956.
