    This even twas important because there was tension between the anti-slavery and pro-slavery states across the country. To keep the peace,Congress made a 2 part compromise, allowing Mussouri's requst and admitted maine as a free state, It also passed anadmendment that put an imaginary line on the louisiana territory , that seperated the free and slave states.
