    Germany invades Poland
    Germany invades Poland calming their land, by invading Poland Germany broke one of the rules in the Treaty of Versailles. With this rule broken Britain and France decided Germany needed to be stopped and started world war 2.

    Britain and France declare war on Germany
    Once Britain and France found out about Germany breaking the rules of the Treaty of Versailles and invading Poland, Britain and France Decided that Germany was getting to powerful and they decided to start WW2.
  • Churchill becomes Prime Minister of Britain

    Churchill becomes Prime Minister of Britain
    Churchill stepped in as president for Neville Chamberlain. Chamberlain felt that it would be easier to restrain Churchill if he was working under him rather that being the prime minister himself. If something was to go wrong, he would stand up and take his place.

    Evacuation of Dunkirk (Operation Dynamo)

    The German army took over the French port of Dunkirk. The British and French tried to defend against the Germans by going back to Dunkirk and fighting. Winston Churchill was scared of a large German attack, he orders every boat to leave and go back to the UK for survival. Everyone wasn’t sure if the Evacuation plan would work but in the end it worked. They ended up saving many soldiers and high commanders.

    IItaly signed a pact with Germany and Japan called the Pact of Steel. The Pact of Steel formed one of the most powerful alliances in world war two the Axis. Even though Italy and Germany were partners their leaders didn’t get along very well. Hitler liked Mussolini but Mussolini didn’t feel the same and thought that Hitler copied him in his rise to power.

    France signs armistice with Germany
    at 6:36pm in Compiègne, France the Armistice was signed by France. Many of the top commanders from both France and Germany were there to sign the Armistice. Signing the Armistice in the Compiègne Forest was planned on purpose. Hitler wanted to sign it there because the Armistice that Germany was forced to sign was signed in the Compiègne Forest, Forcing France to sign it in the forest was like pay back for Germany showing France how far they have come.

    After France Germany had almost conquered all of Europe, Apart from Britain. Germany realised that if they took control of Britain they would have taken control of every country in Europe. They decided to plan for the attack. The first action was taking out Britain’s air force. Hitler decided to bomb the run ways stopping the planes from taking off. The next move was when Hitler decided to bomb major cities like London, to speed up the attack.

    Tripartite Pact signed
    The Tripartite was signed by the Axis powers Japan, Germany and Italy. the Tripartite was to make sure that if any of the countries inside the Axis powers would not be invaded and loose. If there was to be an invasion the other countries armies would step in and fight to save the country under attack.

    Operation sea Lion was a plan made by the Nazi's to invade Britain. Germany decided to invade Britain because at that point during the war, Germany had won the war in their eyes. The only other country that didn't surrender were Britain. By not surrendering Germany decided the only way to win the war was by taking Britain. That’s when Operation Sea Lion was formed.

    The Siege of Tobruk started on the 10 of April 1941 and ended on 27 of November 1941. One of the nicknames the Australians were given was the rats of Tobruk. The reason why they were given these nicknames were because of the way they acted in the war. Australians would tend to counter attack to gather equipment. The siege of Tobruk ended on the 4th of may when British troops were strong enough to defeat the Axis troops.

    Operation Barbarossa was when 3 million Axis troops and 3,500 tanks went to invade the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union was surprised when the Germans came to invade. The Soviet Union wasn’t ready and their army and air force were destroyed. While the Germans continued to advance, The Soviet Union was ready for them now and won the fight.

    The Japanese planned a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. America thought that the planes heading their way were on their side and let them come straight towards. at 8am the Japanese Bombed pearl harbor, the American soldiers did their best to defend but one of their battle ships were bombed and the other was damaged. The soldiers grabbed whatever weapon they could get and tried to fight back against the Japanese. Pearl Harbor was a key event during WW2 because it brought America into the war.

    After Pearl Harbor America realised that they needed to retaliate and decided to join the war by Declaring war on Japan with Britain. Once America joined the war Britain had a chance at defeating the Axis powers and taking back Europe.

    During WW2 Singapore was owned by Britain. Singapore was very important for Britain because of its location and its trade routes. When Britain found out that Japan was going to attack Singapore the British army was told that the Japanese were easy to beat and were not going to win the fight against them. When Japan did finally come the soldiers were extremely shocked at how well the Japanese could fight. After Japan forced Britain to surrender they showed the world what they can do.

    The Battle of mid-way was the turning point for war in the pacific, the two countries involved were Japan and America. The Japanese planned to trap and bomb American air craft carriers. But a group of coad breakers found out and warned them about what was going to happen. America decided to use the information wisely and plan their own trap.

    First Battle of El Alamein

    Erwin Rommel leading the German-Italian Afrika Korps attacked the Allied line which was at El Alamein. The first battle ended up being a tie after the Allies taking out a large part of the Italian army. While the Axis powers tried a counter attack and failed.

    Battle of Stalingrad

    The German army decided to bomb a Soviet town. After the bomb went off the decided to go through the town. The Soviet troops were not done yet though. They decided to hide in the town a have a surprise attack on the German soldiers. After a while the battler took its toll on the German soldiers. The Soviet soldiers could see that and decided to have a counter attack. They made the Germans surrender, Hitler was mad at this because he wanted his soldiers to fight to the death.

    Second Battle of El Alamein

    On the 4 of November the Allie powers won the second battle of El Alamein, Forcing the Axis powers to retreat. The main influence towards the win was the 300 tanks that came from America to help them win. The people involved in the battle were, General Bernard Montgomery's 8th Army consisting of British, Australian, South African, Indian and French troops. For the Axis there were Field Marshal Erwin Rommel's Panzerarmee Afrika consisting of German and Italian troops.

    On the coast of Normandy, the Allie forces landed. Britain, America, Canada, and France all went to battle together against Germany, In the end the Allies gained victory. This battle was a major turning point during WW2.

    In Belgium, Luxembourg The Battle of the Bulge was fought of the major battles during WW2 in Europe. This battle was the last chance for Germany to gain success by driving the Allie forces off of main land Europe. The Germans were unsuccessful at stopping the Allied forces.

    Mussolini captured and executed
    WW2 was coming to an end the Allied forces were winning all the battles and the Germans were running out of plans. On the 28 of April in a village located in Giulino di Mezzegra, Mussolini was captured and executed by anti-fascist partisans. This was the end to Italy power in the war.

    Only days after the death of Mussolini Hitler commits suicide. This was the end to WW2 now that Germany had no leader they had nothing left to do but surrender. Hitler killed himself in his bunker under his headquarters in Berlin. He swallowed a cyanide capsule and shot himself in the head. Ending the rain of power for Germany.

    Very shortly after the death of Hitler Germany knew there was no chance of winning the war and decided to surrender. The text was signed in Karlshorst, Berlin. With Germany surrendering WW2 was finally over and the world was at peace again.

    V.E day or commonly known as V day, is a Victory day in Europe. On this day they celebrate the victory of WW2. They also thank the Allies for the bravery that they showed during the war. It is held on the day that Germany surrendered to the Allies.

    Atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima
    On August 6 America dropped the first Atomic bomb ever. They dropped the Bomb on the city of Hiroshima. The bomb was devastating, wiping out 90% of the city and killing 80,000 people immediately. Other people died later on from the radiation realised from the bomb. This was a massive shock to Japan almost destroying the whole city and killing almost everyone.

    On August 8 the Soviet Union declares war on Japan. 1 million Soviet troops went to battler against the 700,000 strong Japanese army. The Soviet Union decided to go to war with Japan after they didn’t surrender to the Hiroshima bomb. The world expected Japan to give up but the Japanese would rather fight to the death than give up.

    Americas president Harry S told warned Japan to surrender or face the destruction of another Atomic bomb. Japan didn’t surrender forcing America to go through with their plan and bomb Nagasaki. After the second bomb Japan was ruined with no more hope of coming out on top in the war.

    After the Atomic bomb in Nagasaki Japan was ruined, they knew that they had lost the war and going on would just end up destroying their country with no possible way of bringing it back to its former glory. The Japanese Generals would rather kill themselves or be killed than surrender to the Allie troops. On the same boat that they tried to bomb in pearl harbour the Japanese generals were forced to sign the pace treaty in front of all the fellow American soldiers. ending world war 2.

    The United Nations was the solution to war. With the birth of the United Nations was the end to World War. They were there to prevent another world war, and watch people like Hitler and stop them from rising to power. The United Nations was the start of world peace.
