The French government wanted people to be silient, motionless, and obedient. so if you spoke bad about the monarchy they would imprison you at the Bastille. An angry mob went to the Bastille looking for weapons. Long story short, the angry mob turned into a crazy mob and put the head of a prison gaurd on a stick.
