  • Navigation Acts

    Navigation Acts
    They directed the trade between England and Colonies. They had to use British ships to sell goods and they must only sell to British. The Colonies started smuggling because they wnated more money.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Porclamation of 1763 set the Applachachian Mountains as the temporary western boundary for the colonies
    The colonist were angered because they had bought land west of the mountains and now they can not access that land. They were furious that Britain ignored their land claims.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act lowered the tax on imported goods. This was meant to make colonist pay the low taxes. This also allowed officers to seize goods from smugglers without going to court. The colonist were angered because they felt violated and they think they desevre the rights of an english citizen.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    They passed a law on almost all printed material. All of the goods must have a stamp. The colonist protested , started groups (Sons of Liberty), they boycutted all of the goods, and signed agreements against it.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    This stated that parliment had the right to tax and make decisions for the British colonies 'in all cases" The colonist had mixed feelings on this. Many were angered about being taxed but others didn't know what to think.
  • Townshed Acts

    Townshed Acts
    The new taxes would only apply to imported goos such as glass, tea, and paper. This angered colonit because they thought only representatives had the right to tax them. They orgamzed boycotts.
  • Coercive Acts

    Coercive Acts
    This law punishes people of Masschusetts for their resistance to British laws. They closed the Boston Harbor and forced colist to let soldiers shelter at their homes. The colonist believed they violated their rights as an English citizen.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    This set up a governement for Quebec. This also gave land west of the appalachian mountains and land north of the Ohio river. The colonist were angered ecause they ignore the colonial claims. The colinst expressed their feelings through the Intolerable Acts.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    This law allowed the company a virtual monopoly, or sole control of trade for tea in America, they must sell tea directly.
    The colonist boycotted and tried to stop the tea from unloading.
